Rocío Ruiz
Host behind Ocean Calling Retreats.

Warmest welcome — I’m Rocío, the host behind Ocean Calling Retreats. I grew up by the sea in a family of forest rangers, surrounded by people who dedicated their lives to protecting nature and the animals within it. My grandfather and uncle spent their days preventing fires, caring for wildlife, and working side by side with their teams. Growing up in that world taught me that we need one another — community, responsibility, and our connection to nature are at the heart of everything meaningful.

My relationship with the ocean came later. Deep water once made me nervous, but learning to dive — first scuba, then freediving — became a turning point. Training in different countries helped me move from fear to confidence, and the ocean slowly became a place of grounding, clarity, and belonging. That feeling is something I now share with guests: you don’t need to arrive fearless — only open.

Before creating Ocean Calling Retreats, I spent many years working in large multinational organisations and high-profile environments, coordinating across countries and supporting people who relied on precision, trust, and discretion. I’ve organised travel, events, and on-site operations for well-known leaders, international delegations, professional athletes, and artists in the music and TV world. Whether behind the scenes of a concert stage, a broadcast set, or a boardroom, my role was always the same: create ease, structure, and safety so others could focus on the experience in front of them.

Inclusion is something I’ve studied and lived for years. My background in business administration, leadership, human behaviour, DEI, neurodivergence, and project management has taught me how differently people experience the world — and how important it is to create spaces where everyone feels understood and supported. Traveling across many cultures and learning about different beliefs also shaped my approach: people thrive when they feel accepted exactly as they are. Whether working with leaders, artists, athletes, or solo travellers, my intention has always been the same — build environments where people feel safe, welcomed, and able to connect in their own way.

More than qualifications, what guides my retreats is intention: to create small, meaningful journeys where people feel safe, seen, and connected — to the ocean, to others, and to themselves. Guests often tell me the smallest moments stay with them. As one shared: “The K and T sounds you showed me made such a difference to equalize…
Those gentle, human details are the heart of every retreat.

If you’re arriving solo, you’re already in the right place. I hold the structure so the experience can unfold naturally — calm, intimate, and rooted in connection to nature and community.
