Why Niue
Niue is a quiet island for ocean time. In season, regulated in-water humpback whale encounters with licensed guides are possible, but never certain. Around the reef you may meet reef fish, turtles and katuali sea kraits, and spinner dolphins may be seen from the boat. Whale season runs from July to October, and August and September are the core whale months, when the weather is also drier.
Conservation-led. Ocean Calling guests never chase, touch or bait animals.

Ethics pass
Meets the Ocean Calling standard.
In Niue, only licensed operators may swim with whales, with rules on distance, time and small groups, and extra care for mothers and calves. Niue also protects part of its ocean in the Moana Mahu marine protected area since 2020. We do not currently offer Niue. If we ever did, it would be with licensed guides only, with no touching, feeding or chasing.
