Northern Mariana Islands

A chain of US islands in the western Pacific that we love learning about.

Story only

Story only, for now. We love learning about this place and its ocean, so we share its story here and do not sell trips yet. Checked by Ocean Calling on 6 Oct 2026. Sources: Marine Protected Species of the Mariana Islands, NOAA Fisheries; CNMI Division of Fish and Wildlife brochures, Dept of Lands and Natural Resources; Marine Protected Species of Mariana Islands list, NOAA PIRO.

Why: The waters around Saipan and the Mariana Islands are home to green and hawksbill turtles close to shore, several dolphin species, and visiting blue, fin, humpback, sei and sperm whales, all protected under the US Marine Mammal Protection Act and Endangered Species Act. Even the very rare dugong is recorded here. We love the story of these islands and enjoy it from shore, giving every turtle and dolphin plenty of space and never touching, feeding or swimming with them.
