Ethics pass, with care. We found a way to visit this country that meets our animal-welfare standard, as long as we work with the right local operator. Checked by Ocean Calling on 30 Sep 2026. Why Barbados

Barbados holds one of the strongest hawksbill nesting recoveries in the insular Caribbean, and green turtles graze the seagrass in Carlisle Bay, Paynes Bay and Folkestone. Most visitors come for beaches, rum and easy water, so the west coast can be crowded. We are still checking whether a small, no-feed, no-touch morning snorkel can meet our standard.

Conservation-led. Ocean Calling guests never chase, touch or bait animals.

Our ethics check

Can we travel here ethically?

Ethics pass, with care

Good with the right operator. Here is how we choose.

Barbados has real turtles and real protection, but mass catamaran snorkels and turtle feeding are a risk. We avoid boats that feed turtles and any touching. We would only consider a small morning group with a no-feed guide. We are still learning, so nothing is on sale.

Evidence is still thin here. We are checking again with official sources.

Checked 30 Sep 2026. Places change, so we look again every year.
