Cameroon
A Gulf of Guinea coast with turtle nesting beaches near Kribi and a wild river-mouth reserve, shared as a story for now.
Story only, for now. We love learning about this place and its ocean, so we share its story here and do not sell trips yet. Checked by Ocean Calling on 6 Oct 2026. Sources: Foreign travel advice Cameroon, UK FCDO; Cameroon's new forestry and wildlife law marks historic step forward, WildAid; Sustainable Tourism in the Southern Region of Cameroon, Discover Cameroon.
Why: Sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs on the beaches around Kribi and Ebodje, with nesting reported between March and September, and the Douala-Edea reserve, now upgraded to a national park, shelters West African manatees and Atlantic humpback dolphins. Cameroon passed a new forestry and wildlife law in 2024 (Law No. 2024/008) that raises penalties for harming protected species. We share these stories and cheer on the village guardians from the shore, and our own promise never changes: we give wildlife space and never touch, hold or swim with it.
Why Cameroon
Cameroon's southern coast near Kribi has long sandy beaches where several sea turtle species come to nest each year. The Douala-Edea reserve shelters West African manatees and Atlantic humpback dolphins, and Campo-Ma'an is a national park that touches the Atlantic. Governments advise against travel to some regions, including the Far North and the Anglophone North-West and South-West, and piracy is reported in the Gulf of Guinea.
Conservation-led. Ocean Calling guests never chase, touch or bait animals.
